I honestly don't care what console owns in Japan, since I don't live there.

As long as the Xbox is in America and doing decently I will be happy.

But I do think that all of the 3 main consoles will probably be around for while.

The three systems on the market now (PS2, Xbox, and GC) represent 3 levels of corporate involvement in video gaming.

GC: Nintendo, like atari and sega before, represent a game focused company that, though leading the pack of companies involved almost exclusively with gaming and spin offs, is relatively small potatoes in the Fortune 500 type-of-world.

XBox: Microsoft--'nough said. Big cpu giant that anyone smart enough to plug in a computer and read this post knows is the tops of their game. BUT, they too are limited to PC Software and just now console gaming.

AND THEN THERE's SONY

PS2: True, Nintendo and Microsoft have been in the console and software market respectively for longer periods of time. But lets face it-- Sony is not just console, not just software, it is all of electronics. Toping out the entire electronics industry. Involved in (as if you cant list them in your head) Computers, TV's and Video Equip, Home Audio, Portable Audio, Music Recording, Film, and now video gaming. They are sadly here to stay.

The tragic answer to the question "Do you think Sony will last long in the console gaming?" is Yes-- as long as they want to. The sad fact is even if PS2 isnt the greatest system-- Sony can force feed it to us all so much that we have to like it. In the same way that Tommy Matola, Sony Music President, can make you like any boy band he puts in front of you (or if not you, at least your kid sister, girlfriend, and mother) reguardless of whether the music is good or not. The result is a system with 100s of games, 90% of which use similar engines, thin plot devices, and have a replay value of a pet rock.

Its mass marketing folks, better get used to it.

Well it makes sense. I was going to buy a ps2 which had about 10 games I wanted on it. Then I realised I was never going to buy 10 games straight off so I looked at the xbox which had about 4 games I wanted at launch (in australia) and I had a look at the preview list and it seems that the console has more good games than my budget can withstand so it doesn't matter if a console has more good games on it. The xbox games in general appealed to me more so I got that console.

Did you even read my post. I said I looked at the preview list as well, other games get released. So the 20 or so now has an extra 20 later on.

For the amount of games i'm buying xbox will be better for me. If I could only get 1 console and as many games as I liked I would get ps2.

the games on Ps2 are better than the game on XBOX.

for example, GTA3, GT3, FFX, MGS:2, and TM: B are all better than any game on xbox (I have played most of the good ones for an extended period of time)[I even rented an xbox for a week]
