Have any of you guys looked into this? I haven't played online in a while but I want to get back into it. I caught an ad in the November issue of PC Gamer.

"Network packets from your game are prioritized and delivered before other network activity. UltimatePing Technology maximizes the speed of your PC because the 400MHz Network Processor Unit (NPU) delivers data to games faster, reducing your Ping. If some opponents complain that your ping is “too low,” then PingThrottle allows you to adjust it a little higher – then dial it back down to go in for the kill. MaxFPS technology offloads network processing to Killer, allowing your CPU to prioritize what you need it to: your game. The sooner you get one, the sooner you’ll be smoking the competition!"

It's a bunch of crap. Any decent card these days won't require the CPU much.

They're charging you for two things. QoS (which any gaming based router will have built in to the Firmware) and the ability for forge packet latency. In other words, you connect at a low latency but show up on the other end as high latency so that ou can get an edge. So you'd be paying to effectively cheat.

Just use the built in NIC or buy a 3Com NIC for 5 bucks. Leave the quality of service prioritizing to your router.

It's just a bunch of e-penising. The card costs $400, so surely it's far more leet than the other guy's.

As far as network cards go, I stick to Intel when I can. Their desktop gigabit cards are great. That said, for gaming (especially online where your Internet connection is going to be slower than the internal network anyway) go the cheap route.

Well hell. Thanks for the replies fellas. I thought they might be onto something.

btw Anyone know how to connect to a Crysis server without going through GameSpy? CoD and Battlefield push GameSpy but you don't have to use it.

Yes I'm pretty sure it does. How does that help me to connect online?

That's pretty cool but it seems like a lot of trouble to go through.
Hamachi? I've never heard of it. lol I guess a few things have changed since I last played online. All of the games I've come across have a "connect to internet" option. Just click and browse servers.
