Still playing with your Wii?

We got ours a month ago and bust it out occasionally when friends come over, but on the whole it's not my "go to" machine when I want to play games. I'm still playing Boom Blox and trying to unlock all the game modes, but am quickly discovering a bunch of system quirks that annoy me.

* The Wii remote onscreen pointer goes spastic at times. Not sure if it's because of the positioning of the IR bar or what, but even if the controller is pointed at the screen and resting on my leg, the hand icon goes crazy and it's hard to control.

* Controls aren't always responsive, which is annoying.

* The included WiFi adapter is weak and has trouble connecting to my router.

* It doesn't have an Ethernet port so I can't even plug it in to my switch if I wanted to.

Don't get me wrong--I still enjoy the thing. It's just not as super awesomely fantastic as all those Nintendo ads would have me believe. So I ask you this, fellow Wii owners: are you still playing with your Wii?

Not very often. Once in a while I play some Sports, but for single player, I far prefer the 360. I don't have people over too often, so that aspect is missed out on.

I've heard the wireless sensor bar from Nyko (I think) is actually better than the Nintendo one. If I ever find a game that really grabs me I'll try it out.

BTW they do offer a USB ethernet adapter for around $20. Sucks you have to pay more, but I guess that's the sort of thing that keeps the price low.

On a side note, does anyone here have theirs hooked up with the HD component cables? I have a set but I'm out of room on my TV (only two component inputs, taken by cable and 360). Have you noticed any difference?

I don't have any other console to play and I dont play computer games so yeah I play my Wii all the time. I've logged a lot of hours with Mario Kart recently. I connect with no troubles to my router, and have no problems with a spastic pointer or anything. I have some Wii Points to use so I'll probably check out some of those new games they put up for download.

I imagine if I had a 360 I'd probably play it more considering I do a lot of gaming by myself, but I've been connecting up with my friend on the Wii lately and its pretty fun playing Mario Kart with him, although from time to time you do get disconnects, him more frequently than me. For the gamer who doesnt play a whole lot and doesnt really care about fancy graphics or total immersion in a game the Wii is a lot of fun.

I'm playing Wii Fit, trying to every day lol, but as for actual games, not a lot. I want to check out Top Spin 3 for Wii as it will use the Wiimote for swinging. I played the demo for PS3 and couldn't get into it. After playing tennis on Wii Sports, any other tennis game is a disappointment without that true interactivity factor.

I'm actually worried Top Spin 3 on Wii will be dumbed down for easier control, the preview I read of the 360 version made it seem pretty deep with lots more precise movements, I dunno if the Wii can handle all of it.

I sold it a month after I bought it....it's probably one of the worst consoles ever , the funny thing is that I got 100 bucks over the regular price. I also bought one this last christmas and sold it for $550.

At least the **** made me some money.

I still haven't gotten Top Spin 3 yet, as I am left-handed and the reviews say that left-handed control schemes are not catered for - a gross oversight in my opinion as there are MANY left-handed tennis fans and tennis players like myself around.

In the meantime, I bought Tiger Woods 07 in a bargain bin, and I am pleasantly surprised how good it plays and how photorealistic the characters look. Looks and plays crisper than the PS3 / X360 versions. Great physics, framerate. My only complaint would be the putting could do with more responsiveness - in this regard Wii Sports putting is MUCH better. But in terms of general golf swinging, Tiger on Wii is pretty much spot-on!

I loves me some video golf. Haven't played a really good game since Links 2004. I never really dug the Tiger Woods games. They always felt a little...off. Maybe I'll give the Wii version a try. It sounds interesting.

I can't stand the golf in Wii Sports. But way back on the Xbox, one of the Tiger Woods games (2003, I think) was awesome. You'd think my roommates and I would get addicted to something violent with lots of explosions. No, TW03 was the game of the summer. I may give the Wii version a shot.

I played Tiger Woods 06 I think for Wii and it sounds similar to 07 going by KS's description. Everything but putting feels pretty fluid, but when I got on the green I'd always be struggling to get an appropriate swing speed, sometimes spending 5 minutes or more just swinging the remote back and forth trying to get something to work.

I have a gaming PC, 360, Wii, PS2, PSP, DS and unfortunately I own a PS3 as well. I do spend alot of time gaming on the Wii. Usually we play some Wii sports when friends come over. For single player gaming I really enjoy Metroid Prime 3 : Corruption, Super Mario Galaxy, Super Paper Mario, Zelda : Twilight Princess, Resident Evil 4 and most recently I purchased a game called Okami.

I really love the above games, Okami was a pleasant suprise as I purchased it without reading reviews and played the game with no expectations, it turned out to be very good. Of course the Wii has its share of mediocre/bad games as well. I have Prince of Persia : Rival Swords, its not bad but its just that I finished the game on PC and I don't really feel that the Wii controls make the game more fun. The upside is that I received Rival Swords free with the Wii when I purchased it so it wasn't really a waste of my money in any way. I have Resident Evil 4 on PC and PS2 as well but I really enjoyed it more with the Wii controls.

Finally the game Bleach : Shattered Blade, man this game sucks, its horrible. I'm a big fan of the Bleach anime and manga and still I was really disappointed with this title. The story is horrible and I finished the entire game in under 20 minutes. Complete waste of cash in that sense. Of course one cannot judge an entire console because of one game.

If I had to represent my gaming time on each platform from most to least, it would be something like the following :
  • PC
  • 360
  • Wii
  • PS2
  • DS
  • PSP
  • PS3
