I know that Nintendo is well known for specializing in child-oriented games, I still think that the Wii is much better than people are giving it credit for.
Nintendo has recognized the fact that consoles are enormously expensive and that the average gamer is not filthy rich. We all love games but some of us are students, have families or just do not have the cash to shell out 600$ for a console, plus the money for a game and the internet subscriptions. The total cost of buying a nex-gen console with games and everything required to get it off the ground is right around 800$. This is nuts.
Nintendo is stepping it up with a new console that will have mature themed games, interactive controls and a fresh approach on a stale market that doesn't focus on shelling out absurd amounts of cash to have a good time.
I personally have made a commitment that I will not buy a PS3 no matter what fantastic games they offer simply because it will reinforce that kind of behavior from Sony and other game companies. If we want to see a change in the industry we need to be concious of what we are buying and who is supplying it. I'm personally tired of the prices that come along with gaming and think that it's not exactly justified. I think that the price of a game alone is worth it, but now you need to have a 15$ a month X-Box live account, a 15$ a month Playonline account, plus the price of the console and Comcast internet and so on. I race motorcycles on the side and that is becoming a cheaper habit than my gaming, and that's just not acceptable.
The point is.... my birthday is November 18th and I'm hoping to get a pre-paid voucher for a Wii for the following day as a birthday present. You hear that GWN? I can't drop a bigger hint
