I didn't know they existed either, but I have no problem with the concept of gay-friendly hotels. Why do they exist? That's a good question. I would say the decor of the hotel is probably designed to be appealing to a significant number of gay people. I already described the elevator in my post (above). The lobby was also unusual but not way way out.
