I should say "gay-friendly." It's a well known chain (in the gay community) with hotels in several large cities in the U.S. I don't think any are in the South, but I could be wrong. Gay-friendly means large numbers of the gay community when they travel want to stay there. And the rooms contain shall we say "interesting accouterments."

Anyway, it was a business trip and the hotel was recommended by a business colleague who happens to be gay. It didn't occur to me it might be a gay friendly hotel until I got there. I'd never heard of a gay-friendly hotel.

But it was cool. Actually, it was quite nice. The room was big and comfortable but bizarre. If I told you what was in the room you'd die, so I won't.

The elevator was tiny. It had some kind of pink linen wall covering and pink tinted lights from the ceiling. Weird. I got stared at every time I left or entered. Meaning, i was ogled by other male guests. No, it wasn't my imagination. I can't help it if I'm handsome and sexy. Besides, one night I had to put on a tux for an event I attended. Just call me James Bond, shaken not stirred. I may not be as handsome as Pierce Brosnan but I look way better than that troll, Daniel Craig, especially in a tux.

I even ordered room service one night. Pretty good food. They had valet parking. It was great. Just a bit unsual is all. And there were some other straight people staying there too. I saw the occasional heterosexual couple checking out or in. Liberals, probably.

Have any of you ever stayed in an official gay-friendly hotel?
